Serving Our Community
Join us on mission at Village Church.
It is our desire to tangibly love and serve our community with the same love that God shows us through Jesus. Our unashamed hope is that in meeting physical and emotional needs, we will have the opportunity through relationships to make disciples of Jesus and meet spiritual needs.
Serving our community should start with serving our neighbors next door (which should probably start with meeting our neighbors next door).
But we also need to be intentional about going on mission to our community. Most of the local opportunities for mission at Village Church happen in the context of our Community Groups. Every group serves the community together as part of their regular group life.
Here are some highlights of different ways Community Groups have served the community recently:

Church Planting
One of our commitments here at Village Church is to be a church that plants churches. Our dream is that in the next couple of years, even as a young church, we would send out and plant another new church in the Greater Richmond area.
We also want to financially support other church plants, as we view church planting as one of the most strategic and fruitful ways to advance the Gospel.
We currently financially support these church plants each month:
New Valley Church in Waynesboro, VA
Former Church Plants:
Mosaic Church in Mechanicsville, VA
The Well Community Church in Short Pump, VA
All Peoples Community Church in Fairfax, VA
Iglesia Bautista Nueva Esperanza (New Hope Baptist Church) in Chester, VA
Sent Church in Charlotte, NC
Redemption City Church in Boston, MA
Since our beginning, Village Church has set aside 10% of our budget to church planting.
Church planting isn't done alone, and we partner with these organizations:
We believe every church has a role to play in reaching every nation with the gospel.
The SBC of Virginia is a fellowship of more than 700 churches dedicated to the fulfillment of the Great Commission. The convention began in 1996 based on a belief in the inerrancy of Scriptures and committed to church planting as a means to reach the world for Christ. We're supported by your church's contributions through the Cooperative Program and the Vision Virginia State Missions Offering.
The Church is God’s plan—you are God’s plan—to reach North America and the nations with the hope of the gospel, and the North American Mission Board is here to help.
International Missions
Since our beginning, Village Church has set aside 10% of our budget to be used for mission outside our own church and church planting efforts. Some of that money goes to the SBC Cooperative Program and the International Mission Board. Each year we participate in the Lottie Moon Offering for the International Mission Board. Some of that money we save specifically to be used for international mission efforts.
Our aim in international missions is the same as our mission here - church planting. We pray that as the Gospel takes root in the lives of new believers in other nations, they would grow in Christ and start healthy, local churches that faithfully proclaim Jesus to their culture.
Even in the short life of our church, we have been privileged to be able to participate in short-term trips every year to East Asia and Mexico to help advance the Gospel there.
